The Brand’s Inception Story
Kunal Gupta started his career as a software engineer at Infosys, after completing a software engineering course from PESIT, Bangalore, an Executive course in Decision Making from IIMC Kolkata, and an MBA PGPMAX from ISB Hyderabad.
During his two years at Infosys, he got acquainted with all the functionalities and workings of the BPO and BPM industry segments. Despite having great scope in his career, he chose to do something different. “I had a strong will to do something worthwhile for my city and this led me to return to Kolkata and think about creating an employment avenue in the form of a business that can also bring in the light of technology and be a source of livelihood for the educated youth of the Eastern region,” says Kunal.
Given his strong interpersonal skills, Kunal quickly assembled the right networks and dove into the field of BPO services. In 2010, he founded MET Technologies Pvt. Ltd, with a humble workforce of 3 employees. He aimed to provide BPO services to international clients from his small setup in Bangur, Kolkata.
“The journey of MET began with only 3 employees and since then there has been no looking back. Overcoming the Challenges of The Pandemic
Mr. Gupta, like countless other entrepreneurs, had to face several daunting challenges during the pandemic. To ensure an uninterrupted flow of operations during the lockdown, he had to redefine his company’s infrastructure. “MET Technologies had always functioned on the model of ‘work-from-office premises culture’. However, the pandemic-driven lockdown forced us to look into the work-from-home setup seriously making us redefine our existing IT infrastructure to facilitate employees to work seamlessly even from remote locations,” says Mr. Gupta.
The company also revisited its product creation and delivery models to make them more accessible and adaptable for this new change.
Most of the company’s hospitality businesses, which included Clubs, Lounges, and Restaurants, had to be shut. This forced Mr. Gupta to think of alternative ways to revive the company’s operations in the safest ways possible, once the lockdown curbs were lifted. “In this context, our primary focus was on ensuring that all our employees remain safe and unaffected from the infection and so, we invested greatly on thorough sanitization and disinfection of our offices & facilities,” he added.

However, you can still set forth your aim and come out successfully. It is tough to escape the obvious stereotypes when in business, but the good news is that still, you can break those if you have the will and zeal to step on the untrodden paths and explore the unexplored,” he says.
According to him, an entrepreneur must focus on making a difference via his/her business or commercial venture. He believes that if one can contribute to society apart from their usual goals of profitability, they are bound to overcome all stereotypes. “If you have the talent, skills, and expertise to accomplish a task, you will emerge triumphantly. That is also because if your mind is set on a goal, you will leave no stone unturned to achieve it. Hence, I strongly believe that if you dream to achieve something, keep striving towards it relentlessly to achieve it successfully. It is always your efforts that will help you realize your dreams into reality,” he affirms.
Mr. Gupta also stresses the importance of “reinventing the wheel”. He believes that every entrepreneur must strive to add more elements to a market solution rather than altering the functions. This will ensure an enhanced user experience and add more value to the entrepreneur’s ventures.
