What Google Has To Say About Android 14, Android Auto, WearOS And Lots More?

As per NDTV Gadgets Now, at the I/O 2023 keynote, Google has not particularly focused on Android OS for smartphones. The company has also talked in detail about AI. Google hardware launches – Pixel Fold, Pixel tablet and Pixel 7a – were some of its highlights. The much-awaited Google I/O 2023 developer conference event is finally here and Android enthusiasts from across the globe are eager to know what new features the next version, Android 14, to offer. Till now the limelight wasn’t under Android 14 but the company did have some big announcements to make about the Android ecosystem lets us look into what the company has talked about introducing some new and latest features to this new Android version:

Since the 2021 launch, WearOS has grown 5 times:

Google witnesses momentum with its smartwatches and claimed that WearOS has grown over 5 times since the launch of WearOS 3 in 2021. It is also said to be the fastest-growing smartwatch platform in the globe. WhatsApp is bringing their first ever smartwatch app Wear OS, followed by Calendar, Gmail and many more.

Google XR platform:

Soon it is believed to be launched as Google has joined hands with Samsung to build an immersive XR platform powered by Android and with multiple modern AI features for users to witness and acknowledge.

Android on tablets, app optimization for big screens:

As per Google, large-screens Android devices are getting better as it invests in improving app quality and experiences. Also, according to Google, over 50 apps that include Photos, Gmail and Meet, have been optimized for large screens. Apps like Minecraft, Disney+ and Spotify also feel intuitive on bigger screens.

Android TV:

The Android TV OS is the top smart TV platform worldwide. Earlier in 2023, the new live TV was introduced by Google, a lavish experience for users in the US that allowed viewers to browse more than 800 free TV channels from various sources, arranged in a single, user-friendly guide right under the Live tab.

Android Auto:

This will be available in 200 million cars this year, according to Google. Earlier this year, the business internationally introduced the new Android Auto interface.

Get updates on Find My Device:

Google will be updating Find My Device as announced. It is a feature that is going to come up later this summer to help users keep track of all their devices like tablets and headphones. There will also be launched unknown tracker alerts to protect user’s safety and privacy telling them if an unrecognized tracking tag is moving with the user and helping them to locate it too.

Customize wallpapers and lock screen:

The most talked thing about Android at the Google I/O keynote this year was the customization options in Android 14. In 2023, users will be able to customize their lock screen with new shortcuts, clocks and monochrome colour themes. Emoji wallpapers will also be made available this year by Google, initially for Pixel smartphones.

Magic Compose:

This is a totally new feature in Google Messages set to come later this year. It is powered by generative AI and it’s going to offer users multiple options to respond to a message with different tones like concise, professional or “even written like Shakespeare himself!”
