Prime Insights: Could you tell us about Aryan Exporters’ journey and how the company has evolved since its establishment?
Established in 1983, Aryan Exporters has grown from modest origins into one of India’s most trusted and widely accepted names in rubber product procurement. We manufacture a diverse portfolio of precision-engineered rubber components serving vital sectors including Indian Railways, Metro networks, automotive, defense, and various other major industries. For the past 42 years, we have been pioneers in the design and development of critical suspension and load-bearing components for Indian Railways.
Over the years, we have designed multiple rubber, TPU, and PU-based components for Railways, with a constant focus on improving customer experience and ride quality. Our journey has been driven by our commitment to developing reliable, application-specific solutions and continuously strengthening our technical capabilities.
Prime Insights: What inspired Aryan Exporters to enter railway component manufacturing, and how did the development of Air Springs become an important milestone?
Our founding director, Late Shri Ravi Sood and Shri. Arun Bhatia-Director, have been associated with Railways throughout their career. Therefore, railway component manufacturing became a natural step when he decided to form Aryan Exporters in 1983. Since then, our journey has been a remarkable story of technological evolution and continuous learning.
Air Spring has been one of our most critical and prestigious products undertaken by the company. When Railways challenged manufacturers to build the product without foreign influence, Aryan accepted the challenge of developing the Air Spring completely in-house. It was a challenge worth pursuing, particularly as we move towards high-speed rail, where Air Springs can play a critical role in passenger comfort.
Prime Insights: What has been the scope of Aryan Exporters’ Air Spring development for modern railway coaches?
We have designed and developed Air Springs for all variations of LHB and ICF coaches and are currently designing components for Vande Bharat and Metro coaches. Developing the product according to the varying requirements of railway applications requires a strong understanding of suspension systems, product performance, and customer requirements.
While Air Spring has a huge scope in commercial road transportation as well, we are currently focused on railway requirements only. Our approach is to strengthen our capabilities within this segment and continue developing solutions that address the evolving needs of Indian Railways and modern passenger rolling stock.
Prime Insights: What differentiates Aryan Exporters’ Air Spring technology from other products available in the market?
Aryan’s product stands out from its competition because of its complete indigenous design. While other companies have brought the design and core suspension bladder through technology transfer, we have developed the facility and technology in-house. This gives us a unique advantage because we can redesign the component more easily based on the changing needs of Railways.
For us, indigenous development is not simply about manufacturing a product locally. It is about developing the necessary knowledge, facility, and technology within the organization so that we can respond more effectively when requirements evolve. This flexibility strengthens our ability to work closely with customers and develop application-specific solutions.
Prime Insights: How does Aryan Exporters ensure quality, precision and consistency across its products?
Quality control at every step is the key to maintaining the precision and consistency of our products. We ensure proper monitoring of quality at each stage of development and manufacturing so that variations are identified and addressed at the right time.
We also pride ourselves on hosting an NABL-certified in-house laboratory comprising the latest testing equipment. This facility helps us perform lifecycle testing of our products in-house. Having testing capabilities within our premises allows us to evaluate product performance more comprehensively and resolve potential concerns during the development stage itself, rather than waiting until the product reaches the customer.
Prime Insights: What role does research and development play in Aryan Exporters’ technological advancement?
Research is the key to technology development and advancement. At Aryan, we have a dedicated team of engineers focused on R&D and continuously working towards improving our products and capabilities. We believe that innovation has to be supported by structured research and technical understanding.
We also have a longstanding relationship with IIT Roorkee for advanced research and development. Such collaborations help us strengthen our technical approach and explore solutions for challenging applications. For us, R&D is not limited to creating a new product; it is also about understanding performance, identifying gaps, and developing better solutions for the requirements of our customers.
Prime Insights: How do design, simulation and testing technologies contribute to the development of your railway components?
We use systems such as AutoCAD and Ansys for design and simulation, along with software such as Simpack, to help us develop products and variations and effectively monitor their performance. Simulation plays an important role in identifying and resolving multiple design gaps before the product moves further into development.
At the same time, we believe simulation needs to be supported by rigorous real-life testing. We therefore have an in-house testing facility with four-axis testing capability. This allows us to test our products under demanding conditions and ensure that potential problems are addressed at the development stage itself. The combination of simulation and physical testing strengthens our product development process.
Prime Insights: Which of Aryan Exporters’ innovations and achievements have been particularly significant to the company’s journey?
While we have always worked closely to develop solutions for Indian Railways, there have been a few products that have brought us recognition at the national level. We have developed products such as TPU Spring Pads and PU-based Constant Contact Side Bearer Pads, which have helped resolve long-standing issues related to spring breakages for Railways.
Aryan was awarded by the President of India for Outstanding Entrepreneurship at the National Level in 2009 and for Research & Development at the National Level in 2010. Now, the Air Spring has added another feather to our cap by becoming the first such product successfully developed by an industry in India.
Prime Insights: What is Aryan Exporters’ current focus in terms of Air Spring development and market expansion?
We are right now focused on developing this solution for Railways alone. Our priority is to continue strengthening the product and its applications within the railway sector rather than immediately expanding into other markets.
The railway industry has continuously evolving requirements, particularly with the development of modern passenger coaches and the movement towards high-speed and more advanced transportation systems. We therefore see significant scope within our existing focus area itself. Our approach is to deepen our capabilities, understand emerging railway requirements, and continue developing products that can meet those requirements effectively.
Prime Insights: How do your quality certifications and in-house testing capabilities support Aryan Exporters’ commitment to international standards?
Aryan is an ISO 9001:2015-certified company and holds the distinction of being the first IRIS-certified company in the Indian Railway industry. We adhere strictly to international quality standards and continue to drive forward while expanding our horizons.
Rigorous quality checks are conducted at every stage of development to ensure that variations do not creep into the product. While quality control helps us maintain a robust product, our in-house facilities also allow us to conduct product testing within our premises before dispatching the product to the customer. This integrated approach gives us greater control over consistency, performance and quality throughout the product development cycle.
Prime Insights: What are Aryan Exporters’ plans for innovation and diversification in the coming years?
We are committed to bringing product and technology innovation to Railways. Along with developing more products in our core suspension area, we are also diversifying into electrical and embedded systems. We see these areas as important opportunities as railway systems become increasingly advanced and technology-driven.
As Railways move towards greater automation, we are also developing systems for the automated inspection of vehicles at various levels. Our objective is to remain aligned with the changing technological requirements of the industry and contribute solutions that address emerging operational and inspection needs while continuing to strengthen our existing expertise in suspension components.
Prime Insights: What advice would you give OEMs and industrial buyers when selecting suppliers for specialised railway components?
Since every customer can have different requirements based on their usage, we would advise OEMs and industrial buyers to choose a supplier that can design and develop products based on their specific needs. A standard product may not always deliver the same experience across different applications, because operating conditions and requirements can vary.
A supplier with the ability to understand those requirements and develop or modify a product accordingly can provide a much better end-customer and user experience. This is also one of our key strengths and an important part of our approach as a company. Our goal is to develop solutions that are tailored to specific requirements and deliver meaningful value to the end user.
