Prime Insights: What inspired you to establish or join the EHS consulting industry?

The demand for EHS solutions and services is increasing rapidly, which is expected to reach a new level of efficiency, accuracy, and security. In India, there is a wide scope for environment, health, and safety Consultancy. Both the international safety standards, implementation in Indian industries, and environmental legislation and its implications on climate change towards developing countries like India create more opportunities in the EHS field, where there is a wide scope.

Prime Insights: How does your company incorporate innovation into EHS consulting practices?

REST Pvt Ltd developed a unique program such as the Safety Enhancement Programme (SEP) for industries, which is based on Behavioural Based Safety. Safety Orientation, Behavior-based Safety, Confined Space, Permit Work system, and much more training with practical approaches to improve company safety records were developed.

Prime Insights: What emerging trends in EHS consulting do you believe will shape the future, and how is your firm adapting to them?

REST Pvt Ltd has continued to strive towards conducting process safety management training, safety audits, and risk assessments to enhance industrial safety, practice offering our clients the specialist individual attention and solutions required by an ever-changing project environment.

We help businesses get sustainability and regulatory compliance with safety audits based on IS-14489 standards.

Prime Insights: Can you share a case study where your consultancy played an important role in improving a company’s environmental and safety standards?

We’ve worked with chemical, pharma, fertilizer, and oil & gas industries in Andhra Pradesh. One example is a chemical company where our behavior-based safety training for all personnel improved their safety records.

Prime Insights: What role does technology play in your EHS consulting solutions, and how are you using digital tools for better results?

We believe safety audits and training are powerful tools for improving company safety records. We use technology to improve these tools, making them more efficient and effective for our clients.

Prime Insights: How does your consultancy measure the success and effectiveness of EHS strategies for clients?

Our client Colleges and Universities received NAAC A++ ratings after our Green, Environmental, and Energy audit reports were value additions to their reports.

Prime Insights: Have you received any industry awards or recognitions for your innovative EHS consulting services?

In 2019, we were honored to receive the “India Start-Up 500 Award” for Best Start-Up Company. The following year, 2020, we became a member of the Indian Green Buildings Council, strengthening our commitment to sustainable practices.

Prime Insights: What are the biggest challenges in the EHS consulting space today, and how do you solve them?

One of the biggest challenges we see in the EHS consulting space is getting top management’s commitment to improve safety. We solve this by getting a clear return on investment of EHS initiatives, showing both the financial benefits and employee well-being and company reputation. We work with leadership to build customized solutions that go with their business goals, emphasizing the long-term value of a strong safety culture.

Prime Insights: How does your leadership approach influence your organization’s ability to deliver cutting-edge EHS solutions?

My leadership approach, shaped by 28 years of experience in the fertilizer and oil & gas industries (both in India and overseas), directly influences our ability to deliver cutting-edge EHS solutions. My doctorate in Environmental Sciences, along with certifications as a Lead Auditor for ISO-14001:2015 and Green/Eco/Energy audits, provides a strong foundation. My experience conducting audits for over 65 colleges and universities, with memberships in organizations like the International Congress in Environmental Research, AAAS, and IOSH, makes sure we stay at the forefront of the EHS field, enabling us to offer innovative and effective solutions to our clients.

Prime Insights: What expertise and training do your consultants undergo to stay ahead in the EHS industry?

Our consultants go through rigorous training, like specialized behavior-based safety training led by our CMD, to stay ahead in the EHS industry.

Prime Insights: What future goals and expansion plans do you have for your consultancy?

We plan to expand our consultancy by expanding our services to include HAZOP and risk assessments. This expansion is required for the changing needs of industrial safety and the changing landscape of EHS.

Prime Insights: What advice would you give to new EHS consultants looking to make an impact in the industry?

My advice to new EHS consultants is to focus on practical solutions. We’ve found success with our Safety Enhancement Programme (SEP). With a team of scientists, doctors, and engineers is important. Engaging with young minds in colleges, and building innovation and R&D, is also key to making a real impact.
