Prime Insights: Can you introduce your company and its core mission in urban planning and design?
Founded in 2012 in New Delhi, RENASCENT CONSULTANTS is a leading Architecture, Engineering, Interior, and Landscape Design firm. The core mission is to provide extraordinary, affordable, and sustainable designs that are site-sensitive and in harmony with nature. Led by experienced architects and engineers, the firm provides end-to-end solutions for various verticals, including healthcare, education, industrial, and residential projects, focusing on creating socially responsive spaces that serve users beyond expectation.
Prime Insights: What inspired you to focus on urban development and infrastructure excellence?
Our firm’s focus on urban development and infrastructure excellence is rooted in a belief that cities thrive when their foundations are strong. Infrastructure is not just about utility; it is about shaping human experience, enabling growth, and ensuring resilience. From healthcare institutions to transport networks, we see every project as an opportunity to design with responsibility—balancing function, sustainability, and cultural context. Excellence in this field is not a choice but a duty, because the spaces we create today will serve generations tomorrow.
Prime Insights: What major challenges in urban planning do you aim to address through your projects?
Our projects aim to address the very pressures cities face today—rapid population growth, strained resources, and the urgent need for sustainability. We focus on designing infrastructure that is resilient to climate change, inclusive in access, and adaptive to future technologies. At the same time, we work to bridge the gap between speed of delivery and long-term functionality, making sure that what we build today remains relevant and reliable decades down the line. The challenge isn’t just to plan cities—it’s to plan them to endure.
Prime Insights: Can you highlight your flagship services or solutions in planning, architecture, and infrastructure design?
Our flagship solutions in design and planning are framed by four core philosophies:
TIMELESS: We craft contemporary buildings using cutting-edge technology and innovation to inspire awe.
SOCIALLY RESPONSIVE: We design environments where people and activities thrive, building a connection between users and the outdoors through vibrant spaces.
ENVIRONMENTALLY HOLISTIC: We make sure designs are contextual and sustainable through careful articulation of form, materials, and proportions.
ECONOMICAL & ROBUST: Our projects are planned to be fundamentally feasible, structurally viable, and economical.
This approach creates intelligent, self-sustainable structures, transforming India’s image into a hub for postmodern, avant-garde designs.
Prime Insights: How do you make sure of sustainability and eco-friendliness in your urban projects?
We make sure of sustainability through a multi-faceted approach centered on sustainable design & green architecture. This involves designing Net Zero Energy Buildings, using Passive Design Strategies to minimize consumption, and pursuing Green Building Certifications (GRIHA & LEED). We add biophilic design by maximizing natural light and bringing nature indoors to enhance occupant well-being. Furthermore, we practice cultural and contextual sensitivity, creating designs that respect the local environment and repurpose existing buildings to preserve heritage and reduce environmental impact.
Prime Insights: What technologies or innovative approaches (GIS, BIM, smart city models, etc.) have transformed your design process?
Technology is revolutionizing our design process. We utilize advanced tools like Building Information Modelling (BIM), Virtual Reality (VR), GIS, and 3D printing for efficient visualization and precise execution of complex structures. This allows us to add sustainable design with renewable materials and energy efficiency and create flexible buildings that adapt over time. Furthermore, biophilic design is incorporated to improve occupant well-being through natural elements.
Prime Insights: Can you share a milestone project that significantly impacted a city or community?
Our most impactful milestone project is the Graphic Era Hospital, Dehradun, part of the Graphic Era Institute of Medical Science in Uttarakhand. This ultra-modern facility is a 750-bed hospital, expandable to 1250, designed to be a world-class, patient-centric healthcare and research ecosystem, providing affordable, high-quality medical care and education.
The project achieved an IGBC Gold rating, signifying a deep commitment to sustainability. This was accomplished through Net Zero principles, Sustainable Water Management (rainwater harvesting), Energy Efficiency (solar panels), use of eco-friendly materials, and excellent Indoor Environmental Quality. The design prioritizes occupant comfort and well-being by maximizing natural light and adding green spaces.
Prime Insights: How do you balance aesthetics, functionality, and community needs in your designs?
We approach design with a holistic philosophy to smoothly balance aesthetics, functionality, and community needs. Our designs strive for a contemporary yet timeless quality, making sure that they are not only visually pleasing but also serve their purpose efficiently.
We achieve this synergy by focusing on functionality, efficiency, flexibility, sustainability, and aesthetics. Furthermore, we make sure that projects are contextual, sustainable, and environmentally holistic while staying economically sound and robust. Our unique, integrated single-window service approach allows our multidisciplinary experts to deliver designs that are aesthetically superior, functionally efficient, and financially viable.
Prime Insights: What role does working with government bodies, stakeholders, and communities play in your projects?
In urban planning and architecture, collaboration is everything. The government makes the framework, stakeholders bring resources, and communities ground projects in real needs. When these voices align, cities grow stronger, fairer, and more resilient.
Prime Insights: How do you approach challenges such as rapid urbanization, traffic management, and housing needs?
Cities today face rapid urbanization, traffic chaos, and housing need. The solution approach lies in integration, not isolation. Planning for growth, designing around public transport, and building housing need to be both inclusive and sustainable. When policy, technology, and community align, challenges turn into opportunities for smarter cities.
Prime Insights: What are your strategies for maintaining compliance with regulatory standards while innovating?
Balancing compliance and innovation is about discipline paired with creativity. One must treat regulations as design parameters, not roadblocks. Mastering them allows space for creative maneuvering within the rules. Collaboration with authorities from the outset is advisable to clarify interpretations and anticipate approval challenges. Further, meticulous reporting and open communication with regulators build trust, reducing friction for experimental ideas. Ultimately, the strategy is to make compliance the foundation and innovation the expression. One should not treat them as opposites but as partners in creating long-lasting, future-ready solutions.
Prime Insights: How do you see the future of smart cities shaping the role of urban planning firms like yours?
Smart cities are reshaping the very DNA of urban planning firms. As cities become data-driven ecosystems, the role of planning firms goes beyond design into strategy, technology integration, and long-term stewardship. We’re turning from being designers of spaces to being architects of intelligent, resilient, and human-centered urban ecosystems.
Prime Insights: What milestones or recognitions has your company achieved that highlight its leadership in this sector?
We have been honored as the “Most Prominent & Innovative Architecture and Design Firm of the Year 2024.” Our co-founder, Dr. Bakul Chandra, received an honorary PhD (2024) and was named among the “Top 50 Healthcare & MedTech Leaders 2025.” Varun Agarwal was awarded “Architect of the Year – Institutional” (2024). Prime Insights: What advice would you give to emerging firms or professionals entering the urban planning and designing industry?
Our advice is to first master the fundamentals and regulations, treating them as a foundation. Observe the city closely to understand people and spaces. View all parties—government, stakeholders, and community—as partners. Always balance vision with feasibility and use technology to improve, not replace, intuition. Finally, approach your life-shaping work with curiosity, rigor, and respect.
