It is aimed to drive sustainable development in education, health, livelihoods, and environmental conservation through initiatives and programs. The foundation’s goal is to create an equitable society where everyone has the equal opportunity to reach their full potential. The foundation lives on the values of equality, empathy, inclusion, collaboration, and trust, with the vision of economic empowerment of vulnerable people and communities for sustainable development.
On the frontline at M3M Foundation is Dr. Payal Kanodia, a thoughtful woman leader who brings a unique mix of compassion, expertise, and entrepreneurial spirit to her role as Chairperson FICCI YFLO Delhi, Chairperson & Trustee, M3M Foundation. A talented, dedicated doctor by profession and a mother of two young boys, Dr. Kanodia has deep beliefs rooted in her family values and spirituality. M3M Foundation has successfully transformed the lives of over 3.8 million people with the presence in 22 states, 3 union territories, 60 districts and more than 750 villages across India with collaboration and partnerships with state, central government and more than 15 civil society organizations. The foundation’s focus on education, health, livelihoods, and environmental conservation ensures holistic development and empowers marginalized communities to participate actively in their own progress. Prime Insights: Please share the inception story of your company. How did it all begin?
The M3M Foundation started with a deep, ingrained commitment to give back to society and drive meaningful change. Our journey began in 2019, inspired by the core values of equality, empathy, and collaboration, with a mission to create a more inclusive and equitable society. The vision enshrined in the very ethos of the M3M Foundation is to create a platform that not only addresses the immediate needs of marginalized communities but also enables them for long-term, sustainable growth.
Prime Insights: How your journey as a business leader has been until your current position?
My journey as a business leader has been fulfilling, with a commitment to social impact and philanthropy. My experiences at Harvard Business School and my involvement in various global forums have enriched my perspective and knowledge. From my academic goals to my involvement in sports, and now my role at M3M Foundation, I have always sought to challenge myself and push the boundaries of what is possible. Today, I’m proud to lead M3M Foundation, with impactful and sustainable social programs. Leading the foundation has allowed me to combine my passion for education, empowerment, and community development and to make a difference in the lives of millions.
Prime Insights: How do you maintain a balance between your personal life and professional responsibilities?
Balancing personal life and professional responsibilities is a challenge that requires discipline and mindfulness. I give my time and focus on what truly matters, both at work and at home. I stay organized and set clear boundaries to maintain this work-life balance. I also make sure to take time for self-care and to indulge in my interests outside of work, such as sports, which keep me grounded and energized.
Prime Insights: As a woman leader, do you feel your story of struggle is different from others? If so, how?
Every leader’s journey is different, and as a woman, my path has been shaped by both challenges and opportunities. The struggle mostly lies in balancing multiple roles and overcoming societal pressures and expectations. However, these experiences have also strengthened my determination and made me more empathetic as a leader. I believe that the challenges faced by women leaders are not just problems but opportunities to redefine what leadership looks like.
Prime Insights: What kind of clients do you have? Are there any special mentions or notable clients you would like to highlight?
At M3M Foundation, our ‘clients’ are the communities we serve. Our focus is on marginalized groups, including women, children, and rural populations, across India. We work closely with state and central governments, as well as civil society organizations, to implement our programs. Every life we touch is significant, but our work during the COVID-19 pandemic, where we reached over 200,000 people in need, is our most notable achievement.
Prime Insights: How important do you think it is to keep your employees content? What measures do you take to look after their satisfaction?
Employee contentment is essential for the success of any organization. At M3M Foundation, we have a culture of warm welcome, involvement, transparency, and growth. We invest in our employees’ professional development and well-being, making sure that they have the resources and support needed to excel. Regular feedback mechanisms, recognition of achievements, rewards and opportunities for continuous learning are some of the measures we take to maintain high levels of satisfaction.
Prime Insights: Who do you look up to as a role model, and what advice do you give to those who look up to you?
I have always looked up to leaders who combine vision with compassion, such as Mahatma Gandhi, whose ideals of selfless service and community empowerment inspire me. My advice to those who look up to me is to stay true to your values, be resilient in the face of challenges, and always remember that leadership is about serving others and making a positive impact on society.
Prime Insights: What are your thoughts on the participation of women in the entrepreneurial world?

The participation of women in entrepreneurship is vital for driving innovation and economic growth. Women bring unique perspectives and skills to the table, and their involvement in the entrepreneurial world can lead to more inclusive and sustainable businesses. I encourage women to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams and to support each other in breaking through barriers.
Prime Insights: What message would you like to give to women leaders who give up on their dreams due to stereotypes or societal pressures?
“Leadership is not just about leading from the front; it’s about lifting others as you rise. Women possess a unique ability to lead with empathy, resilience, and a vision for inclusive growth.”
To women leaders who feel discouraged by societal pressures, I say this: do not give up on your dreams. Stereotypes and societal expectations are not fixed; they can be challenged and changed. Believe in your potential, surround yourself with a supportive network, and remember that your journey can inspire others to break free from limitations.
Prime Insights: In what ways do you believe women can continue to make a difference in 2025 and beyond?
Women have the power to continue driving change in 2025 and beyond by leading with empathy, innovation, and a commitment to social justice. By embracing their unique strengths and fostering collaboration, women can create more equitable and inclusive societies. It is crucial for women to support one another and to lead by example, paving the way for future generations.
In addition, as women take on more leadership roles across industries, their diverse perspectives bring fresh ideas and solutions to complex global challenges. Through mentorship, advocacy, and community-building, women can help break down barriers that have historically hindered their progress. By continuing to champion policies that promote gender equality, equal pay, and educational opportunities, women can ensure that their influence grows, shaping a future where gender parity is the norm and all voices are valued.
Prime Insights: What is your future vision for your company? Can you share any upcoming plans or projects of your company?
The future vision for the M3M Foundation is to expand our impact, reaching even more communities across India. We plan to scale up our programs, particularly in education and livelihoods, and to continue our work in environmental conservation. Upcoming projects include new initiatives in skill development and entrepreneurship, aimed at empowering youth and women to create sustainable livelihoods.

M3M Foundation has reached significant milestones, including transforming the lives of over 1.8 million people across India. Our work during the COVID-19 pandemic, our partnerships with governments and civil society, and our innovative programs like iMpower and Lakshya are among our proudest achievements. M3M Foundation is also proud of our flagship initiatives, Kaushal Sambal, which is actively promoting entrepreneurship and employability among the youth, and Sarvoday, which is tackling core socio-economic challenges in underdeveloped and marginalized rural communities. Through its diverse and inclusive social welfare outreach programs, the M3M Foundation continues to be a catalyst for positive change, addressing critical social issues and driving sustainable development.
Prime Insights: How are you giving back to society as CSR initiatives?
Giving back to society is at the heart of what we do at M3M Foundation. Our CSR efforts are focused on empowering marginalized communities through education, healthcare, and environmental conservation. We also actively support government initiatives and work with various stakeholders to address pressing social issues. The Lakshya Programme is another initiative close to my heart, where we nurture young athletes by providing them with the resources and support they need to excel in their sports. Our work is driven by the belief that sustainable development is possible when businesses contribute to the welfare of society. M3M Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to create lasting, positive change in the lives of those we serve.
