“At Apollo Medics Hospital, my individual leadership ideology as a doctor is cemented on three principles—patient-centricity, evidence- based decisions, and ethical transparency. I believe technological advancement must serve a human purpose: cure, dignity, and cosmesis. Every decision prioritizes safety, outcomes, and restoring patients’ confidence without visible scars.”
Prime Insights: What inspired your journey into leadership, and how did your career path shape who you are today?
Dr. Abhimanyu Kadapathri: My inspiration came from seeing how late diagnoses and lack of specialized care affect thousands of oral cancer patients in India. As my professional career proceeded further, I got the opportunities to deliver training sessions in premier medical institutions nationwide. When I went ahead with my fellowship in Head & Neck Oncology, the guidance of my experienced mentors there shaped my leadership vision—bringing global innovation like robotic neck dissection, TORS, and RABIT thyroidectomy to North India.
Prime Insights: What differentiates your leadership approach from others in your industry?
Dr. Abhimanyu Kadapathri: There are some perspectives that differentiate every leader out there, irrespective of the industry, right? As far as I am concerned, my approach reflects the belief that oncologic cure and cosmetic preservation are equally important. I have positioned Apollo Medics Hospital, Lucknow, as a center where patients receive cutting- edge robotic surgery with minimal scars, ensuring they return to normal life without stigma or social discrimination.
Prime Insights: What key challenges have you faced on your way to becoming a leading business figure, and how did you overcome them?
Dr. Abhimanyu Kadapathri: A major challenge was introducing robotic head and neck surgery in a region where it was previously unavailable. By building clinician confidence, demonstrating outcomes, engaging with hospital leadership, and accurately educating patients, we overcame skepticism and established the first robotic oncology program in North India. Our focus is on solving real problems—such as accessibility, affordability, and dignity of care. Innovation becomes truly meaningful only when it has the power to transform lives.
Prime Insights: How do you drive innovation and continuous improvement within your organization?
Dr. Abhimanyu Kadapathri: I encourage a culture of learning—regular tumor boards, clinical audits, protocol updates, and skill-based training. By adopting techniques like RIA-MIND scarless neck dissection, TORS, and robotic thyroidectomy, we constantly upgrade our capabilities. Feedback from patients and colleagues drives continuous refinement.
Prime Insights: Could you highlight some milestones or achievements that played a pivotal role in earning you this recognition?
Dr. Abhimanyu Kadapathri: Key milestones include performing North India’s first robotic neck dissection outside Delhi NCR, establishing the Institute of Robotic Head & Neck Surgery, achieving excellent cosmetic outcomes with scarless thyroid, TGDC, and salivary gland surgeries, and conducting statewide awareness camps for early oral cancer detection.
Prime Insights: How do you stay aligned with evolving market trends and customer expectations?
Dr. Abhimanyu Kadapathri: I continuously monitor global surgical advancements, participate in academic meetings, and engage with robotic surgery leaders worldwide. Patient expectations today emphasize cosmesis, faster recovery, and minimally invasive solutions, and we align our services to meet these trends.
Prime Insights: What role do technology and digital transformation play in the overall strategy of your organization?
Dr. Abhimanyu Kadapathri: Technology is central to our strategy. Robotic surgery, 3D endoscopy, digital imaging, AI-based follow-up, and teleconsultations ensure precision, safety, and accessibility. Digital transformation also helps us reach rural populations through tele-education and awareness drives.
Prime Insights: How do you ensure employee engagement, motivation, and a positive organizational culture?
Dr. Abhimanyu Kadapathri: I focus on inclusive decision-making, continuous training, and celebrating small and big achievements. Recognizing the efforts of nurses, technicians, and junior doctors creates a sense of belonging. A supportive, high-trust culture ensures consistent excellence in patient care.
Prime Insights: What are some key strategies you follow to maintain consistency and excellence in performance?
Dr. Abhimanyu Kadapathri: We follow strict surgical protocols, quality audits, enhanced recovery pathways, and standardized communication for patient counseling. Precision, discipline, and compassion form the backbone of every surgical decision—ensuring uniformity in outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Prime Insights: How do you balance personal life with the responsibilities of being a top-level business leader?
Dr. Abhimanyu Kadapathri: Balance comes from discipline, prioritization, and the ability to switch off mentally after surgeries. I believe in small, consistent moments of rest, fitness, and family time, which help maintain clarity and focus, especially during complex oncologic work.
Prime Insights: What impact does CSR, or societal contribution, have on your leadership journey?
Dr. Abhimanyu Kadapathri: CSR is deeply integrated into my work. I conduct regular free cancer detection camps in rural and industrial areas, deliver awareness tobacco-cessation initiatives. For me, leadership is incomplete without societal contribution.
Prime Insights: What future goals or visions are you currently driving for your organization?
Dr. Abhimanyu Kadapathri: My vision is to make Apollo Medics Hospital, Lucknow, the leading robotic head and neck cancer center of India, ensuring that no patient from UP has to travel to Delhi or Mumbai for advanced care. We aim to expand research, fellowships, and international collaborations in robotic oncology.
Prime Insights: What message would you like to share with Prime Insights readers and aspiring business leaders of tomorrow?
Dr. Abhimanyu Kadapathri: Through the platform of Prime Insights Magazine, I first extend my sincerest wishes to every entrepreneur, leader, aspiring medical professional, and every individual reading this release. I truly believe the Indian landscape holds a strong pool of talent capable of driving remarkable advancements through knowledge, a clear understanding of global dynamics, and a strategic problem-solving approach.
What has consistently stayed with me throughout my journey is the belief in leading with purpose and passion, not position. One grows while guiding others and, in the process, gains invaluable lessons from those around them. Technology will continue to evolve, but compassion, integrity, and a commitment to continuous learning will ultimately define one’s legacy.
