Lemonade India
The average person actively picks the exact same “favorite” coffee mug or dinner plate over 90% of the time, despite having a cupboard full of perfectly fine dishes. And it is this deep subconscious connection that is leading to a massive transformation in the contemporary crockery and tableware industry, fuelled by a changing consumer appetite for sophisticated, high quality dining aesthetics. It’s a tough market, traditionally flooded with cheap, mass-produced generic alternatives. The discerning client, whether residential, corporate or luxury hospitality, doesn’t just want a functional product. Consumers seek products that combine functional durability with artisanal value, pushing brands to innovate constantly to differentiate in a crowded marketplace.
Meet Lemonade India, a premium, bespoke lifestyle brand founded in 2019 by its visionary Founder, Gunjan Malhotra, taking a bold, decisive step into this space. Fueled by a desire to disrupt the rigid bulk-order mentality and demographic-boxed gifting, Gunjan tapped into his entrepreneurial skills to create a brand that defined itself through true personalization and gender-neutral design. His leadership saw the company evolve from a niche concept to a lauded lifestyle brand, highlighted in prestigious publications like Elle India and forging partnerships with esteemed entities such as Taj Hotels and Rolls Royce, underscoring his dedication to craftsmanship and operational excellence.
A highly agile, made-to-order manufacturing model, totally bypassing wasteful traditional warehouse-stock systems, is central to Lemonade India’s success. The company marries advanced permanent firing and printing technology with craftsmanship to manufacture scratch-resistant, microwave-safe ceramic drinkware and premium barware with minimal to no minimum order quantities. What this means is that individual homemakers, wedding planners and boutique hotels all receive carefully crafted cohesive pieces that are fully customized to their own aesthetic needs.

Prime Insights: Can you tell us about your brand and the core mission of your brand in the crockery and tableware industry?
Lemonade India is a premium, personalised lifestyle brand, born out of the belief that everyday objects should have meaning for you. We provide curated gifting and lifestyle essentials, but our brand philosophy stems from our bespoke crockery and tableware collections, thoughtfully designed, beautifully crafted and built for daily rituals without chipping or peeling.
What makes us different is our dedication to true personalization. Each ceramic and barware item is made to order, not generic items pulled from a warehouse stock. Our low-to-no minimum order quantities (MOQs) allow you to curate a single home heirloom or place a large-scale corporate or hospitality order – making luxury personalization accessible. We are proudly made in India and shipped worldwide. Our mission is to turn everyday dining into meaningful celebrated moments.
Prime Insights: What inspired you to launch your brand, and what has your journey been like throughout the years?
The idea for Lemonade India was born out of a simple observation – the morning mug you reach for, or the plates on your dinner table, shouldn’t have to be ordinary. When we reviewed the market in 2019, most personalised products seemed mass-produced, with names added as an afterthought, and generally only available through rigid bulk orders.
Plus, gifting in the past was usually boxed in by demographics, segmented heavily by gender or occasion. We wanted to look at it from a totally different angle, one that is completely gender-neutral, that has nothing to do with demographics. Personalization, for us, isn’t about putting people in boxes, it’s about creating something unique and different just for you.
We saw a brand that has personalization in their design DNA, where every piece is made to order and an individual customer can own something just for them. Since its launch, Lemonade India has emerged as a leader in the made-to-order lifestyle space. Our catalog has grown to include stationery and home accessories, but our mission hasn’t changed: to take the everyday tableware and turn it into beloved treasures that people love to use, give, and keep.
Prime Insights: What range of crockery and tableware products do you have and what are your main customer segments?
We offer a personal touch to your everyday dining and entertaining with our customized ceramic mugs, cappuccino cups, coffee mugs, ramen bowls, plates, premium barware, cocktail accessories, curated drinkware and gifting accessories.
Our focus is on customers who value considered design and thoughtful personalization. That includes people seeking memorable gifts for their birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and festive occasions; people who like to curate beautiful homes with distinctive tableware; coffee and cocktail aficionados who appreciate quality drinkware; and customers who select to personalise products for themselves as part of the growing self-gifting trend. We also work with corporate, hospitality, café and event/wedding clients looking for high-end personalized products that combine craftsmanship, flexibility and low minimum order quantities.
Prime Insights: How does your brand differentiate itself in design, quality, craftsmanship and innovation?
For us, the real innovation is our agile, made-to-order manufacturing model. Each piece can be checked out and customized with utmost accuracy, without the need for the warehouse-stock system.
When it comes to design, we believe in clean, timeless and minimal aesthetics, not trends. We’re very focused on the durability of materials, we want our ceramics to have the right weight, the right glaze, and resilience for everyday use. We don’t treat personalization as an add-on, we embed it into the product design seamlessly, so that the last piece feels like one piece, intentional, structurally premium.
Prime Insights: What is a major milestone or accomplishment that shows your brand’s growth and market presence?
Lemonade India has transformed itself from a niche customised gifting brand to a popular premium lifestyle brand trusted by thousands of customers in India over the years. With features in top publications such as Elle India and Financial Express, and collaborations with platforms like Humans of Bombay and LBB, we’ve expanded our reach to a discerning set of consumers.
Apart from the growing direct-to-consumer business, we have also expanded our offline presence by collaborating with retailers like Broadway to make Lemonade products available to consumers in several cities across India. We have also been privileged to create personalized products for leading brands and institutions such as CARS24, Tata Motors, Taj Hotels, Jade by Monica & Karishma, Galeries Lafayette, Tarun Tahiliani and Rolls Royce and many more. These partnerships demonstrate the trust that is placed in our craftsmanship, quality and ability to create meaningful, made-to-order products at any scale.”
These milestones are a testament to our continued growth while staying true to our commitment to thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship and made to order personalisation.
Prime Insights: How do you achieve a balance of aesthetics, functionality and durability in your product design?
We strongly believe that beautiful tableware is useless if it’s too fragile to be used. The pieces are meant to be part of the daily routine, not just a piece that sits on the shelf and is admired. We choose only the best clays, food-safe glazes, and durable materials that will stand up to frequent washing and handling, but still maintain their pristine, minimal aesthetic. We balance ergonomic comfort such as the weight of a mug or the curve of a bowl with timeless visual appeal to make sure our products have long term utility and enduring style.
Prime Insights: How vital are innovation, advanced manufacturing technologies and product design to your business?
Innovation makes our made-to-order low-MOQ model commercially viable. High level customization traditionally requires massive factory runs . We have solved this by combining modern agile printing and firing technologies with a traditional skilled craft. This hybrid method allows us to implement very complex designs with the same precision on a single piece or on a batch of one thousand.
Crucially, the adoption of these modern workflows does not entail the sacrifice of technical quality. Our personalization is permanent, while superficial prints fade. All of our ceramic range are 100% microwave safe, and scratch resistant. Continued R&D on these advanced finishes and permanent personalization techniques keeps our portfolio both highly customizable and rigorously durable for everyday use.
Prime Insights: What methods do you use to ensure quality standards and compliance with national and international standards?
Quality is assured by the careful selection of suppliers, strict manufacturing processes and numerous quality checks before dispatch. Each custom order is inspected for finish, accuracy and craftsmanship. We put a high priority on consistency throughout the production line as each product is customized for the customer.
Prime Insights Can you tell us a success story, where your products significantly improved a hospitality project, commercial establishment or residential space?
For example, we have worked with hospitality brands where personalisation was used to lift the guest experience. We collaborated with Mitron to develop bespoke tumblers that reflected the spirit of the property and Taj SATS for a bulk order of personalised cups and coasters. We have also partnered with The Westin Hotels & Resorts on bespoke products that meet their premium hospitality standards.
Our products are more than just hospitality products; they are regularly used for premium corporate gifting, client welcome kits, weddings, cafes and boutique businesses looking to create memorable customer experiences. From branded drinkware to personalised tableware and custom merchandise, our made-to-order approach means each project feels unique while still delivering the quality and craftsmanship you’d expect from premium brands.
Prime Insights: How do you keep up with changing consumer tastes, interior design trends, and modern lifestyle needs?
We don’t follow social media trends, we constantly research customer behaviour, design trends and buying patterns. Today’s consumers are increasingly valuing thoughtfulness in ownership, personal expression, and quality over quantity. This move is very much in line with our philosophy of making timeless products that are still relevant decades after you bought them.
Prime Insights: What sustainable initiatives have you implemented in the areas of material sourcing, manufacturing and packaging?
All our business architecture is based on sustainability thanks to our made-to-order model. Traditional retail creates a huge amount of environmental waste in the form of unsold, overproduced inventory that ends up in landfills. We have a zero-waste inventory system that’s incredibly lean, as we only produce what is actively ordered. We also aim to create durable, quality tableware that will last for years, instead of disposable tableware, and we are constantly improving our supply chain to include eco-friendly packaging materials.
Prime Insights: How do you establish long-term relationships with retailers, hospitality businesses, architects, interior designers and end customers?
Three pillars are the basis of our relationships: reliability, extreme flexibility and human-centric approach. With low or zero minimum order thresholds, interior designers, architects and boutique hotels can now fulfill the most particular design visions without the huge financial risk. We keep an open and transparent line of communication and a warm brand experience for our retail community, ensuring that every interaction is as personal as the products we create, whether it’s solving an issue or customizing a gift.
Prime Insights: What are the major issues the tableware industry is facing today and how is your brand addressing the changing market dynamics?
The main problem today is the saturation of the market with cheap mass-produced generic tableware which often diminishes the consumer perception of real quality. At the same time, consumers have higher expectations than ever for deep personalization and fast delivery times.
Our response is to double-down on what makes us different: true craftsmanship. We don’t compete on rock-bottom prices, we compete on unmatched flexibility, superior design and an emotional connection that mass-market alternatives simply cannot replicate.
Prime Insights: What are your plans for future product innovation, market expansion and strengthening your brand presence in India and globally post 2026?
We will aggressively grow our specialized lines of dining, coffee-culture and premium barware through 2026 and beyond, introducing avant-garde materials and firing techniques. While our core focus remains to deepen our footprint across metropolitan and Tier-1 cities in India, we are also rapidly scaling our international shipping infrastructure and exploring strategic global retail alliances.” We will also be launching a dedicated vertical, just for luxury boutique hospitality and premium corporate gifting.
Prime Insights: What advice would you give to the customers while choosing premium crockery and tableware for homes, hotels and commercial spaces?
Think beyond the looks alone. Think about the feel of the materials, the durability of the finish, and how well the piece fits into your daily life or brand identity. The best tableware is not to be put away in a cupboard; it is to be used, it is to be enjoyed, it is to be part of your everyday life.
If you want custom tableware, look for companies who will make things from scratch for you, rather than adding text to mass produced blanks. When it’s a carefully made-to-order piece, it’s a whole different energy. It tells a story, it reflects a personality and it inherently has far more long-term emotional and functional value than mass-market options.
