Prime Insights: Can you introduce your company and share its core vision and mission in the Industrial Enclosures Manufacturing sector?
SumiP Composites Pvt. Ltd. was established in Ahmedabad in 1987 to manufacture GRP (Glass- Reinforced-Polymer) Enclosures for Electrical and Instrumentation applications used in demanding Industrial Environments. Our approach focuses on understanding actual service conditions such Corrosion exposure, humidity levels, temperature variations, and installation constraints. Based on these inputs, we develop Enclosure systems that provide long-term Protection for critical Industrial assets.
Prime Insights: What inspired the establishment of your organisation, and how has your journey evolved to achieve industry recognition and leadership?
Mr. Mitesh Shah founded SumiP Composites Pvt. Ltd. to develop Maintenance-free Solutions for demanding Industrial Environments. The idea came from practical field experience where Corrosion, frequent maintenance, and Equipment downtime were common operational challenges. Instead of accepting these conditions as unavoidable, the focus was placed on developing products that could perform reliably with minimal intervention.
Mr. Shah states, “As Infrastructure becomes more connected and automated, Reliability must be Engineered at the Design stage rather than restored after failure.”
Guided by this approach, SumiP has developed into a manufacturer with integrated control over Design, material selection, and production. The company focuses on converting field conditions into durable GRP Solutions. Today, SumiP supports industries such as metros, weather monitoring networks, chemical plants, water treatment Facilities, refineries, and ports with Enclosure systems Designed for long service life and consistent Performance.
Prime Insights: How do your Industrial Enclosures support critical applications in power, automation, and control systems across industries?
In power, automation, and control systems, Enclosures protect critical Electrical and Instrumentation Equipment from environmental exposure such as dust, moisture, and Corrosion. If Enclosure integrity is compromised, system stability and operational continuity can be affected. For this reason, Enclosures must be Engineered as protective systems aligned to environmental and operational realities rather than treated as a standard accessory.
Prime Insights: What key innovations, materials, or Engineering practices differentiate your Enclosures from competitors?
Every Enclosure manufacturer follows its own practices, but at SumiP, Enclosure engineering begins with evaluating site requirements and selecting materials accordingly. Our Designs are built around the structural and Corrosion-resistant properties of GRP rather than adapting metal Enclosure concepts. This approach helps maintain insulation Performance, durability, and structural stability in demanding Industrial Environments.
Prime Insights: How do you ensure superior quality, safety, and compliance with national and international Standards?
Quality at SumiP is built into the Manufacturing process rather than introduced only at the final Inspection stage. Our Facilities operate under ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 management systems.
Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) monitor incoming materials, in-process Manufacturing, and final product verification. Mechanical Testing, insulation checks, ingress Protection validation, and dimensional Inspections ensure compliance with ASTM, IS, and EN Standards before dispatch.
Additionally, our GRP Enclosures are Ex-e certified in accordance with IEC/EN 60079 and ATEX requirements, enabling their safe use in hazardous Environments where explosive Gas or Dust Atmospheres may be present. The Enclosures are suitable for Gas Zones 1 and 2 (Gas Groups IIC, IIB, IIA with temperature classes up to T5) as well as Dust Zones 21 and 22 (Dust Groups IIIC, IIIB, IIIA with a maximum surface temperature of 100°C), supporting applications in industries such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Marine, Fertiliser, and other process sectors.
Prime Insights: Can you highlight a major milestone or project that significantly strengthened your company’s market reputation?
Recognition among the “Super 10 Industrial Enclosures Manufacturers – 2023” by Success Insights India reflects the consistent operational stability of our products across multiple Projects. However, our most meaningful milestone is the trust earned through repeat orders and long-term client relationships.
Prime Insights: How do you integrate customisation and flexibility into your Manufacturing process to meet diverse client requirements?
Industrial Environments rarely follow standard conditions. Installation constraints, structural loads, and environmental exposure vary across sites, making standard Enclosure configurations unsuitable. Our systems are therefore developed for specific operating conditions, covering temperature ranges from -40°C to 130°C, along with corrosive coastal and Industrial Environments. We follow an Engineered-to-order Manufacturing approach supported by CNC-controlled fabrication to ensure dimensional accuracy and correct installation.
Prime Insights: What role does research and development play in enhancing product Performance, durability, and Design efficiency?
Research and development are integral to our Engineering approach. Our team works on improving resin formulations, fibre structures, and fabrication techniques to enhance durability and environmental resistance. These developments are validated through Testing under simulated operating conditions to ensure predictable operational stability.
Prime Insights: How do sustainability, energy efficiency, and eco-friendly Manufacturing practices shape your operations and product strategy?
Sustainability at SumiP is reflected in responsible resource management across our operations. Natural daylight optimisation and solar power generation help reduce energy consumption at our facility. Water usage is monitored and treated through an in-house treatment system for reuse in non‑process activities. Additionally, the long service life of GRP products reduces replacement frequency and overall lifecycle impact.
Prime Insights: What quality Testing protocols and certifications do you follow to ensure long-term Reliability and Protection Performance?
Each Enclosure is verified through defined Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) covering raw materials, dimensional accuracy, structural strength, insulation resistance, and ingress Protection. Mechanical load Testing, dielectric verification, and Environmental sealing checks confirm compliance with project specifications. Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), often conducted with client representatives, ensure that only compliant systems are cleared for dispatch.
Prime Insights: How do you maintain a robust Supply chain and timely delivery for large-scale Industrial and Infrastructure Projects?
Large Infrastructure Projects require strict adherence to quality, volume, and delivery timelines. This is achieved through coordination between Design, Manufacturing, and Logistics teams. Our in-house production capability, structured planning, and balanced capacity utilisation support consistent delivery without last-minute acceleration.
Prime Insights: Can you share a case study where your Enclosures played a crucial role in ensuring operational safety and system Reliability?
Rather than a single project, many of our installations demonstrate the Reliability of our Enclosure systems. In coastal installations, conventional metal Enclosures often show signs of Corrosion within 2–3 years, leading to sealing failure and Equipment Exposure. In similar Environments, SumiP GRP Enclosures have demonstrated stable Performance over extended periods without structural degradation, repainting, or replacement requirements.
Our GRP Enclosures address these challenges through Corrosion resistance, robust sealing, and structural strength. As a result, installations have operated with stable Performance, without structural degradation or unplanned intervention since commissioning.
Prime Insights: How do you ensure strong technical support, installation guidance, and after-sales service for your customers?
Technical support at SumiP begins before dispatch through coordination between Design, Manufacturing, and quality teams to align with project requirements. Installation guidance is provided on handling, mounting, and sealing to maintain Enclosure integrity. Once commissioned, the Enclosures are Designed for stable operation without routine maintenance, with technical clarification available if required.
Prime Insights: What are your strategic growth and expansion plans for 2026 and beyond, including export markets and new technologies?
Our strategy for 2026 and beyond focuses on strengthening Manufacturing capability, process stability, and quality systems before scaling production across domestic and export markets. Technology development will prioritise material optimisation and structural efficiency to maintain consistent Product Performance.
