KiTEC Industries
Every homeowner or facility manager knows the nightmare of a ruptured, corroded pipe—the frustrating leaks, the water damage, and the expensive repairs caused by traditional metal piping. This persistent issue is precisely why the composite materials industry in India is experiencing robust growth. Driven by robust infrastructure demand, India’s composite materials industry is rapidly growing, replacing conventional Galvanized Iron (GI) with lightweight, corrosion-resistant alternatives. Companies compete on quality, technology, cost, and versatility, serving sectors from water supply to gas distribution, with innovation and application diversity fueling the market’s expansion through 2034. At the forefront of this market is KiTEC Industries (India) Private Limited, a pioneer in introducing revolutionary piping technology to the Indian market. Incorporated in 1994 as a joint venture, the company absorbed technology from KiTECHNOLOGY BV, Netherlands, to manufacture its signature product: KiTEC Composite Pipes. The visionary behind this enterprise is Founder Avinash Laddha, a seasoned industry veteran with over 50 years of experience in plastic piping systems, having previously headed the Pipes Division of Polyolefins Industries Ltd. (PIL). Inspired by the “remarkable” potential of composite pipes, he founded KiTEC in 1994, embracing the challenge of promoting an unknown, revolutionary product in a market resistant to change. His journey, marked by a decade of “hard work and struggle,” involved an innovative growth strategy focused on technological leadership, expanding the distribution network from one to 25 across India, and a steadfast commitment to R&D—a testament to his message as an entrepreneur and business leader:
“Patience, commitment, hard work, and honesty will always bring success.”
KiTEC’s core strength lies in its patented composite pipe concept. The KiTEC Composite Pipe is made of multiple layers, with an aluminum core placed between inner and outer layers of Polyethylene (PE) or Cross-Linked Polyethylene (PEX), all held together with adhesive layers. This ingenious design combines the best of both worlds: the aluminum layer acts as a zero- oxygen barrier and drastically reduces the high thermal expansion and deformation associated with traditional plastic pipes, while the plastic layers ensure corrosion resistance, flexibility, and ease of use. This strong and high-quality material, available in types like PE-AL-PE, PE-AL-PEX, and PEX-AL-PEX, provides a Its applications are boundless, serving diverse needs in hot and cold water systems, compressed air, gas distribution, and specialized projects for the Indian Army and Nuclear Power Corporation Ltd.
In the spotlight is Founder Avinash Laddha, sharing his insights in an interview for our prestigious “The 10 Most Trusted Composite Material Manufacturers Supporting Industrial Growth 2026” edition. Stay tuned to hear his success story and learn valuable lessons from him as an entrepreneur to excel in the industry.
Prime Insights: What inspired the start of your company, and how has your journey been since then?
I have been associated with plastic pipes for more than 50 years, having been head of the Pipes Division of the erstwhile Polyolefins Industries Ltd. (PIL), pioneer manufacturers of plastic raw materials and HDPE pipes. During my stint in PIL, I had the opportunity to study and introduce plastic piping applications that were alternatives to conventional piping systems in industries, such as agriculture, water supply, gas distribution, compressed air, etc. Any new concept always has market resistance because the trade is with the trading community, who would not invest in marketing concepts.
Having come across this remarkable product, I knew the result was going to be a revolutionary product of the future. Since at that time my company was not keen to introduce this product, I promoted KITEC in 1994 and, after a decade of hard work and struggle, never looked back.
Prime Insights: What are the main products or solutions you offer, and how do they support industrial growth?
KiTEC Industries (India) Pvt. Ltd. makes multilayer composite pipes and fittings, including PE-AL-PE, PE-AL-PEX, and PEX- AL Our company provides an alternative to conventional piping systems in India, which offer the users various advanced benefits. Along with composite pipes, KiTEC also manufactures SWR UPVC pipes, silent pipes, pre-insulated composite pipes, HDPE pipes, and multi-floor traps. In addition to products manufactured by us, we offer technologically advanced products like the Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV), which controls the flow of hot and cold water and prevents accidents due to scalding.
We are the first manufacturer in the world to manufacture multilayer composite pipes for sizes 63 mm IOD to 110 mm OD, and until today perhaps we are the only manufacturer to manufacture sizes 90 mm OD and 110 mm OD. We take pride in the fact that our own R&D team developed the technology for the pre-insulated multilayer composite pipes.
Our customers consist of architects, MEP consultants, plumbing contractors, builders, gas distribution companies, industrial units, housing complexes, hotels, hospitals, government departments, the Indian Army, and individual users.
The applications for the product are unlimited and include hot and cold water system, compressed air systems, gas distribution, diesel transportation, solar heating, Food/Chemical Processing, Refrigerant Systems, Vacuum Systems, Air conditioning, Fuel Oil Lines, JetPump Piping, Under Floor Heating, in retail petrol pumps, chemicals transportation, chilled water circulation piping, Vacuum air piping, Oxygen, Nitrogen & Compressed air piping, Effiuent treatment plant piping,
R.O. water system piping, Pneumatic piping, Underground cable conduits, sea water intake piping, distribution piping for gas in house connection, Dust suppression system, Kerosene/diesel distribution piping, Edible Oil piping and so on.
Prime Insights: What were the key challenges your company faced while establishing itself in the composite manufacturing market?
In 1994, I spearheaded the company as a first-generation entrepreneur, promoting a product that was unfamiliar to the international market. Initially, I guided the company through marketing strategies and technological innovation. As the product was unknown, the trading community was not ready to keep stocks and promote the products. Due toresource constraints, the company could not create a marketing organization. Therefore, the company developed an innovative structure and expanded from one distributor to 25 distributors across India. This also led the company to focus on R&D for an enhanced product range and improved joining techniques.
It is during the hardest battles that we comprehend our strengths and weaknesses. The unprecedented times of the global pandemic have created havoc in the world. While many ventures were struggling to pay their workforce during the COVID-19 occurrence, KiTEC made sure to stand firmly with its employees, associates, and vendors. The demand disruption in the industry due to the impact of the pandemic exerted an adverse influence, and the cash flow went under severe stress. But the company, along with its stakeholders, unitedly stood and operated as one family and managed to float. Primarily, the company’s philosophy of remaining a steady organization rather than a growth-oriented organization has immensely backed us.
