As a former athlete and certified sports and fitness nutritionist, Mr Aman Puri intimately understood the challenges Indian athletes faced: limited access to high-quality supplements and a market plagued by adulteration. This combination of firsthand experience and deep knowledge ignited his passion to build a “Made in India” brand that would serve the needs of Indian athletes and transform the country’s sports nutrition world.

Prime Insights: What inspired you to embark on your journey as a business leader, and how has it shaped your career?
My journey as a business leader started with a firsthand understanding of the challenges Indian athletes faced. As a former athlete who competed in numerous championships — from mountain biking to triathlons — I experienced a huge gap in access to high-quality nutritional supplements compared to what was available to international sportspersons. This, coupled with my qualifications as a certified sports and fitness nutritionist, gave me a unique perspective. I saw a nascent industry in India, heavily dominated by foreign brands (80% as of 2017), struggling with problems such as adulteration and duplication. This inspired me create a solution that could offer something genuinely better for athletes by making India’s sports nutrition industry robust enough to truly serve their needs. Steadfast NUTRITION was born out of this commitment and passion.
This foundational inspiration has shaped my entire career. It has instilled a relentless focus on product quality and innovation, and continues to motivate me to build something real and impactful that improves the fitness levels of Indians.
Prime Insights: How do you define success, and how has this perspective evolved over the years?
For me, success is fundamentally about improving the quality of lives and creating tangible, positive impact. It means empowering individuals to achieve better health and fitness so that they can reach their full potential. Over the years, my perspective on success has evolved. In the beginning, it meant transforming India’s sports nutrition landscape by building a trusted ‘Made in India’ brand for athletes, reducing their reliance on imported supplements, and seeing these athletes themselves choose our products. As Steadfast NUTRITION gained recognition, success was about our direct impact: witnessing athletes powered by our nutritional supplements bring glory to the country at national and international championships. Today, it goes deeper: success means making high-quality nutrition accessible to all Indians, not just athletes, and supporting them in living healthier and more fulfilling lives.
Prime Insights: What are the core values that drive your leadership style and decision-making process?
Integrity drives my leadership. It translates into prioritising consumer health over profits. This value is deeply embedded in my principle of “Uncompromised Nutrition”, which forms the foundation of how Steadfast NUTRITION operates. It means holding the highest standards of quality, safety, and transparency in all aspects of our work — from formulation to manufacturing and packaging. Alongside integrity, I value accountability — taking full ownership of decisions and remaining answerable for their outcomes to athletes, consumers, and my team. It also means holding myself to the same standards I expect from my team and leading by example. Together, these values help me make consistent, principle-based decisions — I don’t take shortcuts, I don’t chase fleeting market trends and I remain focused on what delivers long-term value to our consumers and stakeholders.
Prime Insights: How do you tackle challenges and turn them into opportunities for growth and innovation?
I live by the adage that every challenge is an opportunity. I begin by thoroughly understanding the problem, then create a well-thought out plan, and ensure excellent execution. One of the biggest challenges I faced when I launched Steadfast NUTRITION was penetrating a market dominated by foreign brands, gaining market share and battling widespread adulteration. I tackled this by focusing on safe, rigorously-tested, world class supplements, prioritising FSSAI-approved products, following WHO-GMP standards, and ensuring ingredients did not exceed the RDA defined by ICMR.
Leveraging my sports and nutrition background, I built trust with athletes and consumers, emphasising quality and efficacy. I led strategic campaigns and partnerships with athletes. These efforts helped Steadfast NUTRITION gain credibility and visibility in the industry and led to its growth.
My boldest innovation, the introduction of single-serve sachets, directly addressed the challenge of adulteration and duplication associated with bulky packaging. These sachets ensured product integrity, precise dosage, and convenience. They’ve been a game-changer, widely appreciated by athletes and fitness enthusiasts and have given us a distinct competitive advantage.
Breaking myths about supplements has been an ongoing challenge, but I’ve used it as an opportunity for education. We’ve launched focused educational initiatives to demystify supplements and empower consumers with clear information, which has built a better-informed consumer base and expanded the market.
Prime Insights: Can you share a transformative moment or milestone that defined your leadership path?
The decision to launch Steadfast NUTRITION in 2017 was a transformative milestone. It marked a shift from simply recognising a problem to actively solving it at scale. As a former athlete and nutritionist, I understood the challenges Indian athletes faced: poor access to clean, effective supplements and a market rife with substandard products. But stepping into that gap as a founder meant moving from personal frustration to collective accountability. It meant taking on the responsibility of building trust in an industry that sorely lacked it. It pushed me to lead with purpose, make decisions rooted in integrity, and stay connected to the real needs of athletes we serve.
Prime Insights: What strategies have you implemented to create a lasting impact in your industry?
My vision for Steadfast NUTRITION is about creating an enduring impact, not just commercial success. I’ve focused on four core strategies to transform the Indian nutrition landscape.
First, I’ve placed a non-negotiable emphasis on quality and safety. Using my pharmaceutical background, I’ve implemented pharma-grade standards and rigorous testing, resulting in premium, organ-friendly products. This has increased consumer expectations and raised industry standards.
Second, I’ve driven disruptive innovations like India’s first single-serve sachets, revolutionising product delivery with unmatched convenience and precise dosage, fundamentally shifting industry norms for dosage and product integrity in the sports nutrition industry.
Third, I’ve strategically addressed market gaps by tailoring products according to the physiological demands of Indian athletes. Under my steer, Steadfast Nutrition has developed unique formulations for energy, muscle building, hydration, recovery, inflammation reduction, and joint health, and more, meeting the needs of athletes across 35 diverse sports. This has strengthened our leadership in athlete-centric nutrition.
Finally, I’ve helped build a holistic sports ecosystem. Between 2019 and 2024, Steadfast NUTRITION consistently sponsored major bodybuilding championships and introduced India’s first Pro Show, providing global platforms and life-changing opportunities for Indian athletes, building a loyal community and making a lasting impact on India’s fitness industry.
Prime Insights: How do you balance business growth with sustainability and social responsibility?
At Steadfast, we believe that true success is measured not just by business growth but also by the lives we touch through social responsibility. We’re deeply committed to sustainability and green initiatives. We’ve implemented clean energy solutions at our office, including solar panels, CNG conversion kits for generators, and water-cooled air conditioners.
We use eco-friendly recyclable packaging and have introduced steel shakers to reduce plastic usage. We also practice rainwater harvesting and recycle water waste. Through these measures, we’re trying to play our part in mitigating the adverse effects of climate change, resource depletion, and pollution.
We engage in social cause campaigns focused on empowering people’s health. These include raising awareness about prevalent health issues such as iron deficiency anemia and protein deficiency. We also distribute free supplements among the underprivileged to address their nutritional deficiences. Our ESG initiatives support nutrition and education of disadvantaged children, aid underserved communities, care for animals, and promote organ donation, all adding to a positive societal impact.
Prime Insights: What role does innovation play in your vision for the future of your organization?
Innovation is central to my vision for the future. It’s about continuous improvement and adapting to changing consumer and industry needs. Our growth from a few products to 45 unique sports and wellness nutrition formulations — including 12 protein supplements — shows this commitment. Our Research & Development facility is currently in the works and will serve as the foundation for cutting-edge innovations focused on improving product efficacy. We also plan to explore new delivery formats. The sachet form was our first innovation in delivery format. We were among the first few brands to launch supplements in an effervescent format.
Prime Insights: How do you empower and inspire your team to work with your vision and achieve their full potential?
My vision to make India protein efficient and a global sporting powerhouse motivates my team. I empower them by connecting their daily work to this larger mission of national health and sports transformation. Seeing their contributions help athletes win or individuals improve their health instills in them a deep sense of ownership and pride. I involve them in decisions and celebrate their contributions to our shared successes — whether it’s a product launch or an athlete’s victory. I also encourage creativity and pushing past comfort zones for growth. I give them freedom to work independently within their areas of expertise, while I stay meaningfully engaged, offering strategic guidance and helping remove roadblocks where needed. I’ve built a culture of continuous learning and professional development. This combination of autonomy, trust, and purpose keeps my team aligned with my vision, unlocking their full potential.
Prime Insights: What trends or developments do you foresee shaping the business landscape in 2025 and beyond?
I foresee the continued use of generative AI and automation in business to improve efficiency and innovation. Driven by regulatory pressure and consumer demand, sustainability will also be a key driver of change. Customer experience will also emerge as a crucial competitive edge.
In the nutrition space, I anticipate a decisive shift towards clean label supplements and a greater transparency in ingredient sourcing and formulation. These along with sustainability and ethical sourcing will influence buying behaviour. The industry will also move towards personalised nutrition, leveraging biometric and potentially genetic data to develop personalised solutions tailored to individual health needs.
Prime Insights: How do you keep resilience and adaptability in an ever-changing business environment?
Resilience and adaptability, for me, start with mindset and are sustained through systems. I stay grounded in core principles while being flexible on strategy — clear on purpose and vision, but agile in execution. I surround myself with a leadership team that challenges assumptions, spots trends early, and adapts quickly to change. Continuous market research and staying abreast of scientific advancements help us to anticipate and adjust our product development and strategies accordingly. We also institutionalise adaptability through cross-functional collaboration, decentralised decision-making, and market feedback loops, which keeps us responsive rather than reactive.
Practically, I maintain resilience through structured reflection and reviewing our progress — what’s working and what isn’t. I model calm and clarity during uncertainty, which builds confidence in my team.
Prime Insights: Who has been your greatest inspiration as a leader, and what lessons have you learned from them?
My greatest inspiration as a leader is undoubtedly my father, Mr Yogesh Puri, CMD of Steadfast MediShield. His journey of leaving a secure corporate career to build his own company from scratch was both risky and incredibly inspiring. It showed me firsthand that true vision, backed by an unshakeable work ethic and clarity of purpose, can turn big dreams into reality. He taught me invaluable lessons: to dream big and pursue those dreams with passion, lead by example, and always prioritise integrity. His consistent discipline, resilience, and relentless drive to push boundaries, even after achieving success, have profoundly shaped my own leadership. I learned from him that there are no shortcuts; hard work and perseverance are what help you overcome any obstacle and build something truly meaningful.
Prime Insights: What advice would you give to aspiring leaders aiming to make their mark in the business world?
My advice to aspiring leaders is to first identify a pressing pain point in society that you’re passionate about addressing — your personal connection to the issue will be a powerful driving force. And remember, consistency and perseverance are key. Second, focus on delivering value to your customers through quality products or services. Third, embrace innovation, stay ahead of industry trends, and be open to adopting new technologies. Fourth, Build a strong team of talented and passionate individuals and cultivate a culture that empowers them to grow. And above all, lead with integrity and transparency, prioritise social responsibility, and build a brand known for its trustworthiness and reliability.
Prime Insights: What legacy do you aim to leave behind, both as a leader and as an individual, for the next generation?
As a leader, I want to be remembered for improving societal health and well-being. For building brands that redefined safety and efficacy in nutritional formulations, empowering millions to live healthier, more active lives. I hope to have played a key role in making India protein efficient by 2040 — by offering people effective nutritional solutions to overcome protein deficiency and by promoting awareness around its importance. I want to be remembered for contributing to India’s emergence as a global sports powerhouse — by supporting athletes with the right products and platforms to excel, and by building a strong sports culture. Through health awareness initiatives, nutrition education, and fitness advocacy, I aim to make a meaningful contribution to improving how people understand and approach their well-being.
As an individual, I aspire to be remembered as someone who was driven by purpose and compassion, who saw a need and dedicated himself to fulfilling it. I want to inspire the next generation to pursue their passions with integrity, to innovate for the greater good, and to understand that true success lies in the positive impact you create on society and the environment.
