I came to Goa 6 years ago. As a strict vegetarian, I struggled to find quality vegetarian food in Goa. Goa is renowned predominantly for its fish and non-vegetarian dishes. Knowing that 40% of India’s population are pure vegetarians, I was upset to discover that a similar percentage of tourists coming to Goa follow a strict vegetarian diet, yet they are facing a serious lack of appealing vegetarian and Jain options. This gap in the market inspired me to launch “Veggie Delight,” a brand dedicated to offering delicious vegetarian cuisine. Today, Veggie Delight is a registered trademark with four outlets in South Goa and plans to expand to ten locations across Goa. Subsequently, I visualize Veggie Delight as a chain of restaurants both across India and internationally. The brand is also registered as a startup.

Prime Insights: What was the motivating force behind its inception?

The motivating force behind the inception of Veggie Delight was my personal struggle to find quality vegetarian food in Goa. Despite the clear demand for a 100% vegetarian food chain, no one was willing to venture into this niche. In Goa, where food predominantly means fish and chicken, the concept of a purely vegetarian outlet was virtually unexplored. Undeterred by advice against taking such a risk, I was confident in the potential success of the concept. I believe that if it could work anywhere in India, it could succeed GOA. Thus, I embarked on this project, establishing Veggie Delight—a Pure Vegetarian & Jain chain with a registered trademark.

Prime Insights: What are the key differentiators of the company’s business model?

I do not have a hospitality background. I am from a business background having industries and agencies. My long love for Goa brought me here with a retirement plan. Bought a resort to manage. It was at that time I realized this strange phenomenon of Goa not giving any importance to exclusive vegetarian outlets. Initially, I used to drive 15 km for vegetarian food in Madgaon city from a very ordinary food outlet. That was the moment I decided to start a pure vegetarian food outlet. I started my first restaurant with my own SOP. I didn’t want to copy how other restaurants operate; rather, considering myself as a customer and his expectations, I decided to do things my way. Right from how the guests are being welcomed and served to the way the food is prepared. Food at my place is cooked just like home cooking. All the ingredients are procured differently, cooked differently, served differently and guests are treated differently. Especially the kids are given extra attention with specific food served complimentary. We give tourists a feel of home away from home, which is a major differentiator.

We provide a diverse range of 100% vegetarian and Jain multicuisine options to our clients. Our menu includes the best of North Indian, South Indian, Chinese, Italian, Continental, and more, ensuring a rich and varied dining experience for everyone.

People are more skeptical these days, so we’ve focused on being transparent about our ingredients and maintaining high quality. We also engage with customers directly and prioritize sustainability. This has helped us build trust and attract health-conscious diners who appreciate our commitment to ethical and vegetarian food. I am religiously promoting my slogan, BE VEGETARIAN-LIVE LONGER.

There’s a big demand for pure vegetarian food brands in India, especially for the 40% of the population who don’t eat non-vegetarian food.

Our goal is to become a leading name in vegetarian dining all over India & abroad and continue to grow and innovate.
