As per the latest news on Business Today, Mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother were shot dead by three assailants while being taken for medical in Prayagraj. Atiq is a notorious gangster hailing from Uttar Pradesh. They were together killed while being taken for a medical check-up. The gangster was previously being held already with 100 criminal cases according to law enforcement. He was recently in the headlines as his son Asad was killed in an encounter two days ago in Jhansi.
This incident took place at 10 P.M approx and the journalists captured this on film, commenting that the two handcuffed siblings were en route to the hospital for medical examination. A high-ranking official also stated that three individuals have been apprehended in connection with the episode that got transpired after two days when Ahmad’s son was executed in a police confrontation in Jhansi. Earlier that day, Asad’s funeral rites were held. At least three members, who masqueraded as press members, observed or witnessed this open firing at Ahmad 60 years and Ashraf from point-blank range. After the shootout, both of them collapsed. The perpetrators were swiftly subdued by law enforcement. Their bullet-ridden bodies were removed from the scene in the middle of this surmounting tension followed by their shocking killings.
A police officer told PTI earlier said that they were looking into the incident and it is too early to say anything. They are yet to question the arrested men. As a member of the Samajwadi Party MP, Atiq Ahmed had a long and notorious criminal record with more than 100 criminal cases, as per the previous police records. He was already on trail for a kidnapping case and also was the chief convict in the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Raju Pal back in 2005. The Supreme Court had earlier petitioned him, contending that he and his loved ones were wrongly accused in the Umesh Pal homicide. It also added that he was subjected to a staged encounter by the Uttar Pradesh Police.
A tweet regarding this incident was released by Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav stating that crime has reached its peak in UP and the Morale of the Criminals is high. In the scenario, when someone gets killed by open firing amidst a high-security cordon of the police, then the safety of the general public becomes a big question. An atmosphere of tension, fear and anxiousness is created because of this in the hearts of the people and it seems that some people are intentionally and deliberately creating such an atmosphere.
The place of the shoot is in front of the Motilal Nehru College in Prayagraj, India was surrounded by numerous police of Uttar Pradesh and the media on 15th April 2023. It was a live caught dramatic attack as officials recorded on Sunday in Northern India. The three assailants who killed them posed as journalists before targeting them for killing. They came in motorcycles and managed to reach close to the two convicts before firing. Surprisingly, the men quickly handed them over to the police after the shoot, and one of them chanted ‘Jai Shree Ram’ as a catchphrase that Hindu nationalists used as their battle cry in their campaign against Muslims. Both sustained bullet injuries on the head and everything happened in the blink of an eye. Multiple videos of this shooting went viral on social media.
