Now payments are made easier via Google pay, Paytm, PhonePe and BHIM using credit cards:

Business Today has published how we can now easily use credit cards for making online payments through merchants. One can manually connect their actual card to payment applications that support UPI (Unified Payments Interface) credit transactions. To avail of this transaction with your credit card, one has to apply for a RuPay credit card from a bank that supports this UPI feature. Such banks who help to avail it are HDFC Bank, Punjab National Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, etc.

In recent times, UPI has experienced a remarkable surge in popularity throughout India. In March 2023, the Reserve Bank of India said that daily UPI transactions have crossed almost 360 million and that people these days are relying on them more as a safe mode of payment rather than handling cash. The UPI with third-party app integration like Paytm, Google Pay, PhonePe and BHIM enables users to initiate transactions through their bank accounts and debit cards effortlessly. These platforms have extended their capabilities to select credit cards and offer a wide range of payment options for users.

To avail of UPI services with your credit card after applying for a RuPay card from any of the selected banks mentioned above, it will take time to get approved and for the card to reach your hands. Once it has been authorized and is in your possession, you may physically connect it to payment applications that work with UPI credit transactions. Here are some steps to link your third-party apps with your RuPay credit card:

First step: Open your merchant payment app like Payt, Google Pay, PhonePe, etc.

Second step: Click on your profile at the right or left-hand corner of your device.

Third step: Set up payment methods.

Fourth step: Add your RuPay credit card.

Fifth step: Enter the card details like card number, expiry date and CVV along with your RuPay card PIN.

Sixth step: Activate the card and for this tap on the ‘RuPay credit card on UPI’ option in your profile.

Your RuPay credit card is now prepared for UPI payments in the seventh stage.

Following these steps, customers can easily and directly link their credit cards with the UPI applications of their choice, such as BHIM, PhonePe, GooglePay, MobiKwik, PayZapp, Paytm, etc. PhonePe, recently announced that it had achieved two significant milestones. The company has become the first digital payments app to successfully enable the linkage of 2, 00,000 RuPay credit cards to the UPI. It has also processed 150 crore INR in Total Payment Value (TPV) using RuPay Credit on UPI.

The Vice President of Consumer Platform and Payments at PhonePe stated in their official statement in a press release that they are thrilled to become the first payments app to link two lakh Rupay credit cards to UPI. We believe that RuPay cards on UPI will revolutionize the access and use of credit in the ecosystem and are committed to offering comprehensive solutions that cater to the evolving needs of customers and merchants. RuPay on UPI is compatible with MDR, much like other credit card instruments, and its merchant partners are passionately embracing and promoting RuPay use among clients.
